Harman thanked Berry Synovus Scholar Maddie Bess and her advisor Berry College Associate Professor of Geology Tamie Jovanelly for organizing the program. In summary Virginia stated, “Georgia has antiquated laws, outdated regulatory structures and underfunded oversight of mining in general and of fracking in particular. It is a community problem and we should seek community solutions.”
