We’re pleased to share three recent workers’ compensation resolutions by MSP partner Rob Monroe, totaling nearly $300,000 in settlements for injured workers in our community.

In one case, Rob represented an employee of a local manufacturer who suffered traumatic amputations of three fingers on his dominant right hand. The claim resolved for $176,000.

Rob also represented a certified nursing assistant at a local nursing home who tore the meniscus in her knee. When her employer refused to allow her to work in a light‑duty position or otherwise accommodate her restrictions, she sustained a series of additional injuries on the job. That case settled for $65,000.

In a third matter, Rob obtained a $55,000 settlement for an employee of a flooring manufacturer who injured his shoulder and later required a total shoulder replacement.

These outcomes build on Rob’s recent workers’ compensation results we shared earlier this year and reflect MSP’s continued commitment to standing up for injured workers across Georgia.

Beaming with pride!

This morning, MSP Partner Jule Peek had the special honor of moving for the admission of his daughter, Suzannah Sennett Peek, to practice law in the State of Georgia. The ceremony was held before Superior Court Judge Billy Sparks. Pictured here are Jule (far left) and Suzannah (center right) among other proud members of the Peek family.

Suzannah graduated with honors from Darlington School (2015), Belmont University (2019), and Georgia State University College of Law (2025). She has clerked with Huff Powell & Bailey in Atlanta and Sony Music in New York City, and recently passed the Georgia Bar Examination.

As Jule remarked to the Court, it was a moment filled with “great enthusiasm, pride, and a modicum of relief.”

Congratulations, Suzannah!

MSP SETTLES 10 MORE NOISE NUISANCE CASES

MSP is pleased to announce the successful resolution of 10 nuisance lawsuits addressing noise and vibration disturbances allegedly caused by a privately owned power plant in northeast Georgia. Over the past few years, our litigation team, led by Partner Jason Sanker, represented local residents who suffered diminished property values and significant disruptions to their daily lives. The cases were hard-fought. Through extensive discovery and motion practice, we overcame the defendants’ efforts to have our clients’ claims thrown out of court.

We then negotiated confidential settlements that provide substantial, meaningful compensation to each homeowner. This resolution follows MSP’s earlier settlement of 24 related nuisance lawsuits, bringing the total number of successfully resolved cases to 34.

These results reflect our firm’s longstanding commitment to standing up for Georgia residents. We are honored to have helped our clients achieve justice.

We’re pleased to share two recent workers’ compensation resolutions by MSP partner Rob Monroe.

In one matter, Rob represented a truck driver who injured his knee while performing routine maintenance. The employer initially accepted the claim but later suspended weekly benefits after a premature full-duty release. Rob worked with the treating physician to reverse that release and secured reinstatement of benefits; the case later settled for $40,000.

In another, Rob represented a manufacturing worker who injured her shoulder and remained out of work for nearly three years following surgery. When overuse led to similar problems in the other shoulder, Rob successfully argued it was a “superadded injury,” and the claim resolved for $50,000.

Georgia’s workers compensation system is complex, and contains a maze of terminology, procedural rules, and deadlines. If you or a family member has been injured at work, call MSP for a consultation with Rob about your rights.

MSP Partner Andy Garner, Chair-elect of the Georgia Highlands College Foundation Board of Trustees, spoke to the 2025 graduating class at their commencement ceremony on May 15. MSP has a longstanding history of supporting GHC. Firm partner, the late Judge James D. Maddox, recognized the need for accessible public higher education in Northwest Georgia, and through his influential role on the Board of Regents, he was instrumental in establishing Floyd Junior College in 1970. Now known as Georgia Highlands College, the institution has expanded with campuses in Rome, Cartersville, Dallas, and Marietta, offering bachelor’s and associate degrees in numerous fields of study. Congratulations to all the graduates!

Estate Jury Trial Win Benefits St. Jude’s

We’re happy to announce a big win in a recent jury trial! Lee Niedrach, assisted by Trey Newton as second chair, represented the estate of a man whose alleged girlfriend sued, claiming the decedent promised he would leave his home to her after he died. She asked the jury to award her the home or, alternatively, for more than $1 million from the estate.

During the three-day trial, evidence showed she lied about the promise. The jury sided fully with the estate and awarded her nothing. The house has now been sold, and we can gladly report that a six-figure check from the sale proceeds was mailed this week directly to the decedent’s chosen beneficiary, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
